Message I realize that as a mass increases in distance from the axis of rotation, rotational inertia increases. I also realize that a driveshaft is relatively small in diameter, making the weight savings not as significant as in, say, a flywheel. I do think that a reduction of 4 pounds of a rotating mass is enough to make a difference in hp, however. I noticed a HUGE difference in low-end response (especially in the first 2 gears) when I put the aluminum DS in. Since the steel DS weighs nearly 50% more than the aluminum, you can't convince me that there will be no difference between the 2 as far as hp. Even if there were no major hp differences, the engine would rev significantly "freer" with the aluminum DS versus the steel.
